Cres: the largest Croatian island
Among the abundance of small Croatian islands, tourists often forget about the large ones: nevertheless, life is boiling there, there are magnificent resorts, a huge selection of hotels, villas and apartments for recreation at very different prices. On the island of Cres you will find picturesque bays, magnificent beaches, many shops, restaurants with local cuisine and delicious wine. The main city of the island with the same name abounds with sights: the city gate with a clock at the entrance to the old city, the Franciscan and Benedictine monasteries of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the Romanesque church of St. Isidore, the Gothic church of St. Mary Magdalene, the beautiful Lapidarium museum, Arsan Patrice palace and much more. On the very island of Cres, you should definitely see the famous Vranskoe lake: freshwater, about seventy meters deep, serving as a valuable source of fresh water for locals and tourists.
You can get to the island of Cres by ferry, as well as on a yacht – you can charter a yacht, or go on your own. For yachtsmen, Cres is a real paradise, there are conveniently arranged marinas, as well as many bays where you can successfully moor: therefore safely include the island of Cres in your sea route – you can be sure, it will fit perfectly into it.
The island is distinguished, among other things, by a diverse and completely unique flora and fauna. Coniferous trees grow in abundance here, and in their shade of is possible to hide from the midday heat. Later in the evening, as the heat recedes slightly, return to the gentle waves again.
