Saharun Beach, Croatia: a sandy beach for a holiday in paradise
Croatia is associated with travelers, mostly with its rocky and pebble beaches: often for swimming on such beaches a special footwear is required, not to get injured on a stony bottom or a huddled sea urchin. However, all these difficulties are more than compensated by extreme cleanliness, crystal transparency of water, in which swimming is a special, absolutely inexpressible buzz. However, in Croatia there are sandy, comfortable beaches, and one of the best and the largest is Saharun.
Saharun Beach: why is worth visiting
Sandy, extremely comfortable beach: it is a rarity for Croatia, so it is worth visiting Saharun at least for that reason. Saharun Beach is located on the island of Dugi Otok: the largest of the Zadar archipelago, among other things, the sea here is shallow enough that makes such a beach an optimal place for recreation with children. Another plus of the beach is the delightful pine groves in which you can easily hide from the scorching sun in the middle of the day, so that later in the evening you can return to the waves again.
Among other things, on the island you can find a small restaurant with local cuisine, shops, the beach itself is perfectly equipped – you can easily find and sun loungers and umbrellas, nearby there are comfortable hotels. You can get there from Zadar, or from Split – by ferry. The easiest way to get to Saharan is for those who own their own yacht, or they plan to charter it for the duration of their stay in Croatia. Spend a day, or better – a few in the company of warm, soft sand, lulling waves and crystal clear water – is priceless, so visiting Saharan beach and Dugi Otok island must be definitely included in your sailing route.
